4 channel analogue sequencer

This is the sequencer I’ve built in preparation for the workshop I am running this weekend at South Hill Park Digital Media Centre, Bracknell. (see previous post)
I built it using 4 pcb’s from the Curious Inventor’s Voice of Saturn Sequencer, the case is made from pine with a translucent polycarbonate front panel with the 40 LED’s mounted underneath so it lights up during operation. The 4 sequencers can be run independently from their own individual clocks or synced together from a separate clock source. I will be adding a clock divider to run each sequencer at 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 clock speeds in any combination. I also have plans to build a more complex clock to generate non linear sequences.

Threep live at the National Space Centre

One of my other musical projects “Threep” saw it’s second live outing last weekend in the Planetarium at Leicester’s National Space Centre.  The first half of the concert was the world premier of Chris Cousin’s Many Coloured Days presented in surround sound with 360 degree video projections on the dome by Sean Clark and myself. After the interval Chris and myself performed as Threep, an entirely improvised performance with 180 degree retina singeing visuals by Vent Media.

My live set up for the show consisted of my Chaos Sequencer, Echo Destruktor, Abrahack Time Machine, Casio MT240 and Keytar circuit bent instruments, Doepfer / Analogue Solutions modular synth and Line 6 Echo Pro and Filter Pro effects. Chris uses his Mac Book Pro with a host of Max patches, granular synthesis software, field recordings and custom controllers.  Video from the event will be online soon.
In the mean time check Sally Hossack’s pictures from the sound check below.

The gig was promoted by Bathysphere and was part of the Arena Festival of Contemporary Art.

Bending Workshop at South Hill Park Digital Media Centre

Tiny Touch

Coming up this month is a 2 bending workshop I will be running at South Hill Park Digital Media Centre in Bracknell. Day 1 will focus on building a Dub Siren from a Vtech Tiny Touch Phone (similar to my Pulse Machine), learning about general bending techniques, component selection, modulation with an additional LFO circuit and interface design.
Day 2 will focus on sequencing with an analogue modular synthesizer and a cross patching matrix. I am currently custom building a 4 channel CV sequencer into which participants can connect their Dub Sirens, a seperate patching matrix will take advantage of a particular characteristic of the Tiny Touch where quite complex evolving sequences can be created by directly “cross bending” several circuits together.

The workshop takes place on 22nd and 23rd of November
Weekend ticket: £116.00 (includes all component costs)
